Our Story

passion. experience. style.

SculptHouse was founded by former athlete, Wilhelmina Fitness model and fitness instructor Katherine Mason. While working in the fitness and fashion industries in New York, Katherine conceptualized the idea of SculptHouse. She dreamed of creating the ultimate fitness haven. A place where men and women of all fitness levels, backgrounds and injuries could escape the world around them and come together for a low-impact, heart pumping workout.

During her time as a Lagree Fitness instructor at one of New York’s top studios, she kept hearing clients say that they felt like they needed to incorporate a cardio program into their Megaformer workouts. To stay in top shape for fitness jobs, Katherine was visiting one studio for the HIIT treadmill workout and the other studio for the unparalleled Megaformer workout. Eventually it hit her that the perfect workout would be to combine these machines in a split format where you can “get it all in” in just 50 minutes.

After coming back to her southern roots, Katherine connected with Megan Armstrong and together they developed the CardioSculpt method, the first method to combine a Megaformer and a treadmill.

Katherine’s incorporation of a curated collection of fitness apparel at each studio reflects her goal to create a one-stop-shop for all things fitness.

What did you do before SH?

My background is actually in PR and Marketing, so creating a brand from scratch was always extremely appealing to me. After working in New York as an instructor, fitness model and other fitness-related roles, I realized an opportunity to define a new way of using the Megaformer by combining it with cardio in a bootcamp style class. I tried every class in New York and I always came back to the Megaformer and Woodway (at different studios) to get in the best shape and to feel the best about myself. I needed to be able to go to a Nike or Shape Magazine casting at the drop of a hat, so being able to have the confidence, endurance and strength while staying injury-free was essential.

What unique style do you bring to your classes?

I grew up playing team sports, so as an instructor I fall into a coaching role, encouraging you to be the best version of yourself that day in those 50 minutes. I love getting people pumped up so that they will go beyond what they would normally be able to do without our classes. Great, upbeat music, encouraging words and a few expletives go a long way!

What edge do you bring to SH?

I’ve always had two sides to me, an athlete, tomboy, unapologetically myself vibe and a very feminine, girly, artistic side. Together they mesh into this vibe that I think is very SculptHouse. I think our brand is really a reflection of my personality. Unisex, trend-setting, sleek but makes a statement, doesn’t focus on what others think, just focuses on being 100% yourself… our workout, clothes and studios aim to appeal to men and women who want to be a part of something somewhat understated but undeniably ahead of the curve.

Guilty pleasure?

Queso and a Skinny Margarita. Cards Against Humanity. A great dramatic TV show. Dancing to great music with no care in the world.

What brought you to SculptHouse?

Katherine took my spin class at a nearby studio and briefly told me about her SculptHouse idea. After doing some research on the technique and machines, I reached out to her on Facebook, and expressed I was interested in discussing further. We met for over 2 hours the first time and then began speaking daily about ideas for the workout and the design for the studio. After a month and a half, I was officially offered the Creative Director and Lead Trainer position - I had the opportunity to help create a brand new workout that had never been done before in a full-time setting! It was a chance to make fitness a career and not just a job.

What did you do before SH?

Before I accepted the position with SculptHouse, I had about 7 years of experience as a group fitness instructor. I spent 5 years in LA as a personal swim trainer and spin teacher at Equinox. When I moved to Atlanta, I continued as a spin instructor, but was ready for something completely new and full of possibilities. I wanted to help create the SculptHouse method, see it grow and introduce the combination of the Megafomer with the Curve treadmill.

What unique style do you bring to your classes?

My unique style would be my personal connection to each class....I really try to make each class similar to a personal training session by watching and connecting with each client. I offer modifications when needed or extra challenges to our members who have been coming for a long time. I would say my biggest asset is being an excellent multi-tasker! I am able to assist a client on one side of the room, continue to give clear instructions over the mic for the rest of the class, and spot another client across the room who has the wrong spring load or working the wrong leg!

Two facts about yourself that would surprise others?

I was a nationally ranked swimmer at 13 years old and can play the piano.

What edge do you bring to SH?

Fashion has always been an innate thing for me. My mother said that from the moment I could walk, I was in her closet, finding her best stilettos and prancing all over the house. I have found that this innate sense translates into allowing me to help every client identify their personal and individual style, while more importantly empowering them with confidence!

Where can we find you outside of SculptHouse?

The belt line...for both the interactive fitness side and the social side! Inman Park is my haven.

What brought you to SculptHouse?

I took a leap of faith and left my job in medical device sales, to make my passion of health and fitness, my career. SculptHouse had just opened and immediately grabbed my attention, with the one-of-a-kind workout, stylish boutique, and overall brand concept. It felt like the perfect first step on my new career path! I started working at the front desk in February 2016 and haven't looked back!

What did you do before SculptHouse?

In 2010, I graduated from Auburn University and moved to Atlanta, where I worked as a Physician Recruiter and Medical Device Sales Rep. When I initially joined SH as a Front Desk employee, my goal was to become an instructor, but as I became more involved on the management side and was promoted to Studio Manager, I knew this was the role I was going to thrive in!

What makes you a key part of the SculptHouse team?

It didn't take long for me to recognize that SculptHouse was going to be something really special in my life, in Atlanta and in the fitness industry. I truly want to use my passion for health to fitness to help others improve their lives. Managing a studio that is positively impacting so many clients is an amazing feeling and I am completely dedicated to spreading the SH love!

I get things done and can handle making the tough decisions, when needed. I am meticulous, organized and know the only way to grow is to continuously learn! We are dedicated to our clients, just as they are to us, so I am continuously evaluating what tasks need to be accomplished or what fresh ideas can be brought to fruition, to ensure we are delivering the best experience possible!
