Trainer Spotlight: Bridget Schulze

Meet SculptHouse trainer Bridget Schulze! Her infectious laugh and courageous spirit will get you through any workout at The House. You can catch her on Tuesdays at 4:30, Wednesdays at 6, 7:15am and 4:30pm, Thursdays 6am, Fridays 6 & 7:15am and Sundays at 10:30.

How did you get involved in fitness?
I have been active my whole life. I danced when I was younger and played competitive soccer my entire life. When I went to college I started working with a personal trainer and became even more in love with fitness. As I started my career after college, I realized sitting at a desk wasn’t the way I wanted to spend my days, so in 2015 with the support of my husband, I left my full-time job and pursued a career in the fitness industry. I got certified in group fitness, then certified in spin and taught that for two years. Not long after joining SculptHouse I decided to follow my dream of becoming a certified personal trainer and passed the exam in April 2017.

You’ve taught other group classes here in Atlanta, how is the SculptHouse method different?
SculptHouse is so unique in that it involves two completely different machines that somehow compliment each other so well. Targeting strength work and slow twitch muscle fibers, the M3 strengthens and lengthens your muscles, while the Curve hits that cardio element and targets the fast twitch muscle fibers. I love the combination of strength and cardio that we offer because it’s a little bit of everything wrapped into one amazing workout!

You teach a lot of early morning classes. What advice can you give someone who might not be an early bird?
Getting up early never becomes easy, but you make it a habit. My advice for anyone who wants to become more of an early bird is to start the night before. Lay your workout clothes out so you’re not trying to find something to wear at 5:30 in the morning. If you’re a coffee lover like me, set your coffee maker to start in the morning so it’s ready to go for you when you walk out the door, and the most important thing is to go to bed early. A good night’s sleep is the best start to any day.

What’s your favorite M3 move? Favorite Curve block?
I can’t pick one, so my top 3 M3 moves are spider kick, side leg sweep and twisted bear. Killer glute and oblique moves. Favorite blocks are Endurance and 60 Builds.

What’s in your gym bag?
An extra set of workout clothes, sticky socks, sneakers, dry shampoo, deodorant, and Goodwipes (they’re key for a quick clean up after a sweaty workout)!

How do you balance work, life and leisure?
I am very lucky in that my job in the fitness industry offers me a lot of free time during the day when a lot of people are working. I like to get my errands done during those hours so when the weekend comes I can spend time with my husband and friends.

Where can we find you when you’re not at the House?
Spending time with my husband and new puppy, Charlie. Or next door at Storico with friends!

Favorite part of the SculptSquad?
Hands down, the amazing women I work with. I have made friendships that will last a lifetime. Every woman on this team is an inspiration and motivation. I’m also so grateful for our clients. The people I’ve met through the studio have become friends and they make me want to excel every time I walk in to teach a class.

Favorite restaurant and way to unwind after a long day?
Storico Fresco & any Mexican restaurant. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a sucker for a good guac and skinny margarita. My favorite way to unwind is being with my husband on our couch with a bottle of wine and a good movie. I also love a good girl’s nights!

Thanks Bridge we are so proud of you and happy to have you on the team!

Member Spotlight: Hailey Dray

Hailey Dray literally lights up the studio the moment she walks in. She has the brightest smile and such a loving heart but when she gets on the M3 and the Curve, she’s all business! Hailey gives 110% during each and every class and we want to share her story!

How long have you been coming to SH and how often?

I’ve been coming to SH for about seven or eight glorious months. I started out coming two or three times a week, and worked my way up to coming six days a week.

How is the SculptHouse method different than other group classes you’ve tried?

SculptHouse slays the fitness game.

I’ve never been much of a “class girl” for many reasons. The biggest reason is probably that fact that there hasn’t been enough bang per buck for most of the classes I’ve tried… coupled with the fact that I had this false sense of self-discipline thinking I could work out harder on my own.

SH stripped me of every misconception I’ve held about classes down to every last detail. The CardioSculpt classes allowed me to get my strength and cardio done in about an hour. The combination of the high intensity interval training on the Curve and the slow-twitch muscle-building that lengthens and tones on the Megaformer crushes any workout I’ve tried.

On top of being a killer, fun workout, the mental strength that the SculptHouse method and the trainers teach you is unrivaled. While there are other people in the class, I never feel like I’m getting lost in the crowd. I feel as though I’m being personally trained, motivated and encouraged.

These incredibly strong, inspiring, kind, hilarious women have a contagious energy. They’ve ingrained the words “yes you can” into my brain that has translated to other aspects of my life beyond fitness.

How has your body changed?

I’m 99% sure I laughed when I saw a couple of the moves the trainers were teaching me to do when I first started. My reverse catfish looked more like a dead fish, and my cobra resembled a struggling sloth. I was also one of the least flexible people I knew before training at SH.

It hasn’t gotten easier necessarily, but I’ve gotten much stronger. That’s the awesome part—you can master the form, but you can always make it harder by going a little bit slower on the Megaformer, stretch a little bit deeper, or run faster on the curve.

I’m still learning, growing and sculpting my body, but I’ve never felt stronger, faster, or more motivated.

What’s your favorite M3 move? Favorite Curve block? Music?

M3: Teaser to a twisted bear (oblique killer)

Curve: Last block level 4 – 20s. It’s a chance to grow mentally, and give it everything I’ve got left in the tank.

Music: It’s all incredible. You can’t help but to feel like a badass going at your top speed on the Curve to Ali Bomaye or Lose Yourself.

What would you tell someone who is hesitant to try this new type of workout?

I was hesitant too… and now look how hard I’m nerding out about SH.

Every bit of it is worth it. The trainers, the methods, the inviting atmosphere, the music, the results. I never thought I would find a class like this—the hype is real.

Meg took me under her wing when I first started, and she, along with the other trainers have changed my mindset for workouts. Get to know a trainer or ask someone taking the class about their SH experience—it’s so refreshing to see people’s kindness and passion, and you’ll quickly feel right at home. You’ll form new friendships and feel a part of something, while shaping yourself along the way.

What’s your favorite thing about the House and the SculptSquad?

I love this question because I know I speak for many when I answer this. My favorite part about the House and the SculptSquad is that feeling of comradery that uplifts, empowers and motivates me.

Every time I walk through the door for class, I feel like I’m back in high school walking into lacrosse practice. We’re a tight-knit team at SculptHouse and we love the SH game.

I’m not sure when I started saying “We” when referring to the SculptSquad, but that’s the beauty of it. There’s a huge sense of belonging—whether it’s a “we’re in this together” warm smile you get when gearing up for sprints, or one of the high fives thrown around after class—you feel motivated and connected…all while strengthening your mind and body. It’s pretty epic. So are the results.

It’s no secret that Kale Me Crazy is your favorite post workout spot! What’s your “go-to” at KMC?

Ahhh… guilty as charged. My go-to is the Recharge. Every time. Half a banana. Or an avocado if I’m feeling snazzy.

Anything else you want to add?

I’m grateful for everyone who works at SH, and for all the people that go and encourage each other. I’m banking on it being in Dallas, Austin, NYC, and all the places I love soon… so………….. just saying. Let’s throw Nantucket on that list too.

Thanks Hails for supporting SculptHouse and believing in us from the beginning! People like you, really make the SculptSquad what it is!

With Love,
The SculptSquad

Photo on Left from August 2016, Photo on Right from February 2017 (6 months!)

How long have you been coming to SculptHouse?
Since August 2016. Started with 1-2 times a week, now I am an avid goer of 4, sometimes 5 a week!

How is the SH method different form other group classes you’ve taken?
I’ve tried CrossFit, personal training, and several other group fitness classes before. After my first SH class I felt like part of the family right away! The class size is small and intimate which means that clients get the one on one personal attention and motivation to keep going. The energy you feel the second you walk into any class from the amazing, outgoing, and professional trainers is something I have never felt before walking into any other gym or studio. SH has taught me how to listen to my body while working my slow-twitch fat burning muscles and how important it is to focus on form rather than simply trying to “rep it out.” I’m truly addicted!

You’ve seen some incredible changes in your body since starting at SculptHouse! What is the biggest change?
The biggest change is in my waist line and lower body!! I have gone down about a size and a half since starting at Sculpthouse. I can proudly say I have never loved my body so much and after seeing those results, it’s that kind of proof that keeps me coming back to continue to sculpt and change the shape of my body.

What would you tell someone hesitant to try something completely new and unique?
Don’t mock it till you try it! Getting yourself out of your comfort zone is something everyone should try and try often; it’s good for the soul and you’ll never know what you will discover or accomplish!

What’s your favorite Megaformer move? Favorite Curve block?
Favorite M3 move is anything involving the core! If I had to choose, it would be teaser, or plank to pike. I feel my abs and core so deeply. For the Curves, definitely Skate the World! From someone that used to hate cardio I enjoy mixing up the workout and not straight running.

You struggled with a knee injury recently. How is SculptHouse helping to recover and strengthen so that you can continue to work out?
I discussed my knee pain and concern right away with the trainers – I felt comfortable knowing that there would be no judgement if I had to stop or modify a movement. I was worried I would have to stop coming to the StrengthSculpt, full body classes. However, the highly trained trainers have kept a close eye on me and have helped me make adjustments whether it be reducing the resistance, changing range of motion or suggesting alternative exercises. The attention to detail, motivation and high energy keeps me going every time and I’ve been able to strengthen the muscles around my joints to become stronger without further injuring myself.

What’s your favorite thing about the House and the SculptSquad?
The energy, motivation, friendliness and professionalism of the trainers and everyone that works there! Oh, and the amazing boutique definitely makes the House unique and special!

Anything else you want to add?
Showing up is the first step to becoming a better version of yourself. Eat clean, work hard and enjoy the results! Thank you, SH for making me feel part of the SculptSquad! See you at the House!

Thanks Leeron for being such a valued part of the SculptSquad! We adore you and love your energy and upbeat outlook in and outside the studio. You are proof that this method works and we are so glad to be a part of your success. Keep up the great work!

Trainer Spotlight: Jenni Talbert

Jenni moved to Atlanta almost 2 years ago from LA where she was an avid Lagree client and no stranger to the M3! As a mother to three gorgeous little girls, Jenni finds time to balance work, family and fun. Catch her own advanced moves while she is participating in a class or her killer routines when she teaches. Jenni’s high energy and fun commentary will get you through any 50-minute workout!

With three little girls, how do you make sure you take enough time out of each day to take care of your own health and fitness?

I have always loved being active. I ran track, I studied martial arts, I snowboard, I was a gym rat, street running, beach running, trail running, anything that left me in a puddle of sweat. However, after I had my first child, exercise seemed like such a selfish pastime. I fell into the same trap that many parents fall into… Guilt. It took me some time before I truly understood that self-love, self-maintenance, and self-care were essential to parenting. My heart was full, but I was tired, drained, and running on empty. I started to schedule a sitter to workout a couple days a week, and soon, I remembered what fitness did for my spirit. Now, just like anything that fills us, exercise and fitness is fully integrated into my life.

What is your favorite M3 move? Favorite Curve block?

I have so many favorite M3 moves… Anything Giant Reverse, Reverse Carriage Kicks, BUNGEE (aka butt lift), and Mermaid Twist. They are effective and gets me into my shakes right off the bat.

Favorite Curve Block right now is 90 Builds. I like generating speed and then blasting off at the end. With this new block, it forces me to really use my mind to hold my Level 4 for 30 seconds. I have 3 chances to redefine what that max effort means.

You’re a clean eater but always find ways to make “healthy” treats for your SH co-workers. Tell us a little bit about your cooking and baking style?

I grew up with my mom making home-cooked (Korean) meals from scratch (yum) so now that I am a parent, my view on food is all about clean ingredients. I use organic, local (when available), preservative-free ingredients. Also, components are intentional. For instance, I use turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties, cardamom for its aid in waste elimination through our kidneys, oregano for immunity, cinnamon to assist in improving the way our cells metabolize glucose, ginger for our digestion, ghee for reducing stress in the body, etc… Life is balance though, so there are a lot of meals out- steaks, french fries, and ramen when needed.

I discovered Paleo baking in the last five years. For me, it is a challenge. Tell me you are vegan and gluten free and I get excited about making a vegan, Paleo caprese savory “cheese”cake. I love bringing treats to work because I know the health intention is appreciated. It brings me so much happiness to see people enjoy my chia pudding!

How do you wind down after a busy day at work and with the kids?

There is very little wind-down time once the kids go to bed because I go to sleep soon afterwards. However, Saturdays are completely relaxed. We don’t wake up to an alarm clock, I make a huge breakfast, we do a whole lot of nothing, and it is perfect.

What do you do in your free time?

What’s that? Ha ha! I am thankful to have known and met some incredible people here in Atlanta. So, every so often, we set a date, I put my face on and meet up for a scrumptious meal and a martini somewhere in the city. If I have a stretch of free time, my favorite thing in the whole wide world is traveling, and second to that, is scuba diving, so if I can combine those two passions, I am a pretty happy gal.

How long have you been doing the Lagree method and what is it about the CardioSculpt combo that people are drawn to versus just the Megaformer?

I have been doing the Lagree method for many years now and it is still my favorite workout… I believe the CardioSculpt combo provides the perfect mixture for those looking to develop both their larger, explosive muscles, and also their smaller, slow twitch, endurance, fat burning muscles. Plus, you get an incredible cardiovascular workout. You leave with exhausted muscles and a clear mind.

What kind of music can we find on your playlist?

I try to put a mixture of what is popular… Pop, EDM, Remixes, Hip Hop, and Rap. I want people to feel pumped and driven, but the music should be background to instruction and to the most important voice, which is the voice within them. That drive, that affirmation, is what will get them to their goals- physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Favorite thing about being part of the SculptSquad?

I feel so grateful to be part of such a wonderful group of powerful women. Each and every instructor has such an interesting story and a heart that is as immense as their beauty… Inside and out. Despite being the oldest one there, I have so much to learn from them. They are bright and intuitive, fun and insightful.

What are your go- to household products for your kids?

Probiotics and green juice! I give the children probiotics to keep proper balance in their tummies, and an organic green juice powder from Garden of Life that the girls love! I also rub lavender oil on their feet at night or a couple drops on their palms to breathe in.

Anything else you want to add?

As SculptHouse goes into their second year, I reflect on my own personal journey here. A year and a half ago, my husband and I packed up the kids and left a city I had been in all my life. I left some incredible friends and my family… Yet, I feel so blessed to be part of a community of remarkable people. Whether it is side-by-side, sweating our asses off in the studio, or teaching class to individuals whose strength inspires me EVERY TIME, I am humbled. Thank you.

You can catch Jenni on Fridays at 12:15 and Sundays 8am for StrengthSculpt or Thursdays at 9:45 and Sundays 9:15 for CaridioSculpt. Thanks Jenni for being part of the SH original crew – we love you!

Member Spotlight: Pietro Gianni

Pietro Gianni is not only a SculptHouse member but also our next door neighbor as co-owner of Storico Fresco – “a true Italian Alimentari e Ristorante!” Pietro has been coming 3-4 times a week for the past two months and his results are pretty amazing. Here he is to tell you his story and how SculptHouse has helped change his body and fitness level:

As a restaurant owner you probably have a very busy schedule! How do you fit your workouts in?
I tend to rotate my schedule around my fitness classes, not the other way around, as that’s the priority. SH’s app is so easy to use, I can book my classes and make sure early on there are no conflicts with work. I always tell everyone to book their classes the week prior and stick to them as much as possible.

What is it about SculptHouse that changed you from a class-by-class client to an unlimited member? How has SH changed your body?
SH is addictive! The results come so quickly, especially working where I lacked training most such as core and lower back, that was a quick fix to my personal issues. Becoming an unlimited member was a natural solution, going 3 to 4 times a week made it a no brainer to choose that package, also I don’t ever stress about how many classes I take and being an unlimited member motivates me to go more than ever.

How do you stay in such great shape with all of that Italian food (and wine!) around you all day?
Good question!! I was quite heavier a few years back and learned to eat several small meals through the day. Working inside a restaurant environment doesn’t allow for the classic 2 meals a day anyways, so I’ll eat at 8 and 11am, then a light late lunch after lunch service, again a small dinner on the early side and a healthy snack before bed. That keeps my metabolism always active, and yes, a couple glasses of wine a day is part of the reason why Italians hold such longevity records!!

What would you tell another guy about his hesitation to try SculptHouse?
Guys this is an amazing and very complete work-out!! SH allows for everyone to get to your “sweet spot” pretty quickly. Adding both Megaformer springs and harder Curve running objectives to your personal needs as you progress is very satisfying. While SH is mostly frequented by very fit ladies, we guys also need firmer booties, hind legs and being a bit more “ripped”, which never hurt anyone!!

How is the SculptHouse method different than any other group class you’ve experienced?
The main difference for me is the core exercises. I’ve never experience such a dramatic change in my lower chest to glut areas with other workouts. The real benefit of SH is balance, you get the right exercise in all those smaller muscles we ignore in our regular running or gym exercises and it shows very fast.

What is your favorite M3 move? Favorite Curve block?
My favorite M3 move is anything that regards core (abs, lats, planks, etc.) mostly mermaids where I have discovered parts of my body that I simply didn’t know were there at all! As for the Curve, especially with the recent “upgrade” in levels, being a runner I . Whether it’s active recovery or level 1 I’m jogging lightly, never walking, level 2 is a solid run, level 3 is running at my top speed, and finally level 4 is give it all you have for those few seconds! My favorite Curve block is the 20 second interval 2’s, 3’s and 4’s.

Can you tell us a little about your running history and how the Curve treadmill has made you a “born-again runner?”
I used to run 20/25 miles a week, basically hurting everywhere!! Lower back issues, joints, flabby back side and all that comes with running only. The Curve is an amazing alternative to running outdoors as it pushes the entire back part of our gluts and legs. I’ve never experienced a back pain since starting SH.
I now run half the mileage I used to run at SH (hence preserving my back and joints) but am burning more total calories and have finally achieved a much firmer hind and hamstrings than ever. The Megaformer really pushes those legs, and yes I’ll sometimes wake up with a healthy pain in my muscles, but never anything I can’t shake off the next day. Added plus is a perfectly air-conditioned environment all year round with cold water and towels always available.

Your restaurant is frequented by SH employees and members alike. What is in season right now and on the menu (and drink menu!) that you would suggest for someone watching their diet?
Funny thing to talk about. I believe in carbs more than ever, pasta is an amazing resource for exercising, it’s our fuel!! We only use unbleached, non GMO imported flours for our dishes and we grow all our greens thanks to amazing farms like Mcmullan Family farms. Our pasta is filled with great cheeses and veggies, while our fresh cuts are always prepared with farm grown produce that is only an added bonus to our diet. We also pay particular attention to our many salads and veggie platters, we always choose the best possible produce that’s available and seasonal.
As for drinks, our wines are only Italian, we spent months choosing the best of the best, and we serve even the simplest white wine by the glass at optimum temperature, something we are very proud of.

Feel free to add anything else below:
SH just like Storico Fresco is one big big family. When I go to SH I know every instructor by first name just like they know mine, they are always jumping in to correct me when I’m doing something wrong in the sweetest of ways. It’s no joke when we all talk about going to “the House” for our workouts, it truly is a second home full of people who really care about what they are doing and how they are bettering the everyday life of their guests. Being neighbors is the ultimate mega perk. We all exercise in order to feel and look better but also to be able to eat and drink great food all year round…. And one cannot go without the other!

Member Spotlight: Jon Glass

SculptHouse member, Jon Glass, has lost 35 pounds over the past year by making big lifestyle changes and incorporating the SculptHouse method into his workout routine!! The proof is in the results and we want you to hear from him directly. Jon was helping us perfect the SH method in our early days of training exactly one year ago and we can’t thank him enough for all he has done for us (including building our studio cubbies!). We are so excited to bring you his story – meet, Jon Glass:

How did you hear about SculptHouse?

I heard about SculptHouse through Megan Armstrong, the Creative Director and Lead Trainer. I had started training with Megan to lose weight and get in shape when she became a personal trainer a year and a half ago. I was working out with her when she accepted the SculptHouse job and I was certainly intrigued so she took me in to their training space last year and needless to say I got my butt kicked the first time I tried it, but loved it.

It’s no secret that you have really shaped up and your body has totally changed over the past year and a half…how has the SculptHouse method played a part in your transformation?

The SculptHouse method has without question played a major role in how my body has changed. The combination of the Megaformer and the Woodway Curve is deadly and winning! The Megaformer has allowed me to work slow twitch muscles which helped me effectively burn fat and create long lasting lean muscle. The Woodway Curve blocks provide an intense cardio workout that burns 30% more calories on a human powered treadmill. Having to pull almost 80 pounds with each step pushes the body even more than a normal treadmill. I’ve also found that after training on the curve that I can run faster and longer on a regular treadmill or outside. Every SculptHouse class leaves me covered in sweat and tired but wanting more especially when you can start feeling the positive effects after just your first class. I’ve been able to burn quite a bit of fat, create lean muscle mass and really get into cardio shape. Now exercising almost daily is part of my routine and has become a bit of an (healthy!) addiction. The SculptHouse method also has taught me to move slower and more intentionally even when exercising outside of the House.

What would you tell another guy interested in trying SculptHouse but thinking “it’s just for women?”

Try it! Don’t put it down or judge it until you man-up and step into the House! SH is absolutely not just for women, it’s for men both young and old and it’s no joke. Guys can experience real changes of their strength and bodies with SculptHouse, as each workout has variations and ways to continue to challenge and push harder.

How is SculptHouse different from other group classes you’ve tried?

SH is like no other class, a few members call it “death by machine” but the truth is that the pain may be temporary but the results are real and worth it. CardioSculpt & StrengthSculpt both provide temporary pain for long lasting results. Classes are very focused and well led. The class size is small and intimate which means that participants get a lot of personal attention and motivation. This helps to ensure that they get the most of their workout while using proper form and techniques so their bodies are protected. The squad of instructors that Katherine & Megan have assembled are also second to none. All have been extensively trained and re-trained so they can be the best!

You travel A LOT for your job. How do you stay on track when you’re on the road?

Staying on track while on the road is not the easiest endeavor – actually traveling a lot is one of the easiest ways to get off track. While traveling, it’s important to continue to exercise and eat well. Eating well and with portion control is hard but with good discipline and after time becomes easy and you begin to crave healthy eating. Exercising while on the road is also important, this is just as hard. While on the road it’s hard to create consistent routine to exercise so the challenge is carving out the time as you plan your days. Often it requires getting up earlier to get a workout in before the day gets started or even exercising in the evening. Of course, not every city has a SculptHouse or great boutique studios therefore I’ve had to use techniques and theories from SculptHouse to exercise. For example, if a hotel has a treadmill you can put yourself through SH cardio blocks (while maybe adding a few in). Also when in new cities one great way to explore and learn a city is map a running route from your hotel or wherever you’re staying. MindBody and google are also great resources for searching and finding studios that may offer training of some kind in multiple cities. Many studios offer a first class free or at a discounted rate so you can try new workouts. Honestly though, having spent so much time with the well trained team at SculptHouse, I’ve found myself critiquing and comparing other studios to SH. SH is still far and above just about anything out there. Another technique is to purchase some exercise bands for cheap as they are easy to travel with in an effort to perform some basic exercises and continue to stretch. (Just make sure you go slow).

What is your favorite M3 move? Favorite Curve block?

“Favorite” move is an odd phrase! All the moves are brutal so it’s hard to have a favorite but if I had to pick one that I think is most effective, it’d be the reverse side crunch with an inchworm. My favorite curve block is 60 builds without question. Usually by the third one, I want to stop but you aren’t done so it’s time to find that extra energy and keep pushing.

Ever shop in the boutique?

I do occasionally shop in the boutique, not to the extent that most of the ladies do, but they have men’s wear as well. The Rhone line is really great. The clothes are lightweight, breathable and most importantly very comfortable plus they really hold up and last to be worn while working out or just around town.

Anything else you want to add?

Getting in shape takes more than just showing up to workout. The SculptHouse method is incredibly effective when that’s your goal, but it’s also important to get educated on what you need to do outside of the studio. It takes discipline, good eating, portion control and holistically taking care of yourself. The instructors and team at SculptHouse are all incredibly knowledgeable and well versed in how to treat your body when you’re not getting worked at the House!

Thanks Jon for all you do for us at the House and the energy you bring each time you show up – even if it is 6am!! Look for Jon in the early morning classes and weekends…. he’s a great person to be next to if you are newer especially.

Trainer Spotlight: Lindsey McClellan

This month we are sitting down with the one and only Lindsey McClellan! We call her Linds and she absolutely lights up any room she enters. But don’t let her charm and gorgeous smile fool you…she will kick your butt as soon as that music and class start! We love Lindsey because she is so positive and supportive in and outside of the studio. She can take your bad day and turn it right around while forgetting about the outside world for an entire 50 minutes. Meet Lindsey:

You have taught other types of group fitness classes here in Atlanta. What makes SculptHouse’s workout so different and effective?
I love the combination of cardiovascular conditioning and strength training. The SH method is a great combination of HIIT on the Woodway Curve that keeps my heart rate in an optimal fat burning zone and strength training on the M3. What makes SH different is half of the class is focused on getting the heart rate up on the curve while the other half is on the M3 stretching, lengthening and toning those hard to target areas I struggle with most.

What is your favorite type of music to play during your classes at The House?
I love me some EDM/Dance, rock, hip-hop and pop. I am big on remixes and love anything Matoma.

What is your favorite Megaformer move and why?
Any of our oblique exercises I absolutely love…especially a member favorite – twisted bear. This move is one where you can just feel your obliques getting tighter.

What is your favorite block to do on the Curve?
Give me 60 – builds any day on the curve and it’s a good day for me. This one is my favorite because you hit each level. You’re at level 2 for 20 seconds, level 3 for 20 seconds and then level 4 for 20 seconds followed by a level 1 for 60 seconds in between. It is a great feeling to get your heart rate up knowing you can walk it out for a minute before repeating that sequence – twice.

At the House, each instructor has a bin to keep whatever they need to teach. What’s in your bin? What’s in your gym bag when you work out?
There is nothing exciting about what you will find in my bin and gym bag. In my bin you will only find extra workouts and my microphone screens and in my gym bag the clothes and shoes I am going to work out in, maybe a protein bar and headphones. I probably should get more creative with these things but just essentials for me. ☺

Where can we find you when you’re not at The House?
You can find me at Buckhead Church, spending time with my amazing husband, Jonathan, hanging out with dear friends, on a run or curled up reading a good book!

Best part about being part of the SculptSquad?
Without a doubt the clients and the amazing women I get to work with! What an honor to have a team of trainers that I can call friends and clients who have become friends. Katherine and Megan have created an environment that is full of comradely, laughter and motivation to be the best we can be. I love that I get to walk into a place encouraging others to be the best version of themselves they can be. I like reminding them that they have 50 minutes to tune everything out and focus on what they want to accomplish not to mention they are changing their bodies. It has been a privilege to be a part of this amazing team and grateful for the clients who make it possible for SculptHouse to be what it is.

You can catch Lindsey on Tuesday nights at 5:45pm, Wednesday mornings at 7:15 & 8:30am, sweaty Saturdays at 8am and starting on October 14th – Fridays at 6am!

Thanks Linds, we love you!

Trainer Spotlight: Brady Weeks

Meet SculptHouse trainer, Brady Weeks! Brady’s love of music, people and fitness shines in every class she teaches and Brady can thank her mom for exposing her to the fitness circuit early on. Growing up in Illinois, Brady’s mom used to take Brady to all of her favorite group fitness classes. Later in life, Brady solidified this love by studying exercise science at Ole Miss then furthering her qualifications by becoming a certified NASM trainer and group fitness instructor.

You have taught other types of group fitness classes here in Atlanta. What makes SculptHouse’s workout so different and effective?
SculptHouse’s signature workout, CardioSculpt, is so damn effective because it works both your slow twitch and fast twitch muscle fibers in just 50 minutes! There is no other studio within ATL that has challenged my body in that way. I also love that it is a HIGH intensity workout that is also LOW IMPACT!!! This workout really is for ANYONE!

What is your favorite type of music to play during your classes at The House?
I love to keep my clients guessing when it comes to music. I have tons of workout playlists and I also have a reservoir of songs that I’m really lovin’ at the moment. I dig all sorts of genres and enjoy reading the vibe in my classes to know what to play next. I love to throw people off with a good throw back jam to lighten the mood during those ALL OUT intervals! I completely understand and believe in the POWER of a FAB playlist!

What is your favorite Megaformer move and why?
Hmm….this is a hard question because there are so many awesome moves out there! I LOVE LOVE LOVE working my glutes, so if I can only pick one move I would pick Spider Kicks. You can feel that move working deep into your booty! It is just so different than any move I have ever done in previous workouts. I also love how it challenges my flexibility!

What is your favorite block to do on the Curve?
As CRAZY as it sounds, I LOVE 45’s. They are so hard and such a pain in the ass but that is exactly what I enjoy about them. 45’s always challenge both my mind and body.

At the House, each instructor has a bin to keep whatever they need to teach. What’s in your bin? What’s in your gym bag when you work out?
Inside my bin…LOL!!! I have a print out of almost every single workout I have ever taught at SculptHouse (and at this point it is pretty outrageous, but I just cleaned it out last week)! I also have a stick of Carmex cherry flavored chapstick and always gum. In my gym bag, you will find hairspray, headbands, BLONDE bobby pins (I’m really neurotic about my bobby pins being blonde), Acure Organics clarifying glycolic and zinc face towelettes, and last but not least SoapWalla’s balancing facial toning mist found inside the amazing SH boutique! I am literally obsessed with the toning mist. It cools you off and is super refreshing after a sweaty class!

Where can we find you when you’re not at The House?
When I am not a The House, I am sure to be found somewhere outside with my pup Waffles. I love taking small excursions with him to find the coolest new trails that turn into lakes, rivers, or streams for him to play in and for me to get some zen time in. I LOVE WATER!!!!

Best part about being part of the SculptSquad??
The coolest/my most favorite part of being on TheSquad is the ability to deliver an extremely unique, badass, and effective workout to ATL. I completely believed in Katherine’s vision from the first meeting I had with her. To give clients a high intensity AND low impact workout really is just so rad!! I was also super excited about the opportunity to work under our lead trainer Megan. Knowing what a badass she was made me realize that she would help push me way outside of my comfort zone and challenge me in more ways than one as a trainer. And finally, I really love the team of women our leaders have put together and developed. Each trainer is so very different, but the glue that holds us all together is that every member of TheSquad is constantly pushing themselves to the next level in all aspects of life inside and outside of the studio. We are all very courageous and understand that the most fulfilled lives are created when stepping outside of your comfort zone!

Thanks, B! Your hard work and dedication to SculptHouse has been prominent since months before we even opened. Thank you for being such an integral part of SH and for bringing positive energy each time you step through the front doors! You are so loved by us all.

You can Sculpt with Brady on Wednesdays at 6am and 7:15am, Thursdays at 8:30am and 5:45pm plus Saturdays at 9:15am. Rest up beforehand because her high energy and spirit will keep your heart rate up the whole time!

#TastyTuesday: Thai Peanut Kale Salad

THAI PEANUT KALE SALAD (Vegan & Gluten Free)
1 bunch kale (stemmed and chopped)
1 cup grated carrots
1 cup cherry tomatoes
1/4 cup peanuts
1/2 avocado
1/4 cup chopped cilantro

1/4 cup sesame seed oil
1 heaping tablespoon peanut butter
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 lime juiced
1″ minced ginger
2 tablespoons gluten free soy sauce

– Add chopped kale in a large bowl. Place to side.
– Make dressing. Add everything into a small mixing bowl. Whisk together.
– Pour half of the dressing on kale and massage for about 2 minutes.
– Top salad with remainder of ingredients. Drizzle more dressing on top if you desire or save for later. (I used the rest of the dressing to marinate my husbands chicken).
